First of all you need to know your destination and secondly, in order to get there it is extremely helpful to have a road map. You might get there without it, but a compass, a map and few signposts make the journey so much smoother.

The same principles apply to reaching the destination of your dreams in any area of your life. And goal setting is the map. But what is your destination? Your dreams are. And to know your true dreams you have to listen to your heart and pay close attention to what it tells you.

You have to make sure that the blueprint, the first creation, is really what you want, that you´ve thought everything through. Then you put it into bricks and mortar. I believe that the most powerful way of starting out with defining your destination is to start dreaming. And dreaming BIG. Yes, for some of us it is hard initially, because we have been trained to quench our dreams and desires. To "not be silly or unrealistic" about our abilities.
But dreams have no limits, so why should you limit yourself? Instead, reconnect with your deepest imagination and start visualizing how your life would be in an ideal situation. Relax and have fun!
Get all of your dreams down on paper. (It might require quite a few sheets. Great!) Remember to include all details and use all of your senses. Try to "feel" every aspect of your dreams. Well, once you´re finished. That´s the starting point for your personal goal setting.
Now remember that the goals you´re setting are YOURS and stem from your desires. Consequently, the goals must be inspiring for YOU. Additionally, they must be believable to you, so you will act on them. These are three major requirements for powerful goal setting.
"Goals. There´s no telling what you can do when you get inspired by them. There´s no telling what you can do when you believe in them. And there´s no telling what will happen when you act upon them."
For optimal structure and clarity, you will need to break down your goals into categories like: social, career, health, personal and economic. Naturally, there will be lots of subcategories, but they can generally be fitted into one of the main ones.
Then, to simplify greatly, you decide what you want in each category, why you want to achieve this and lastly when (set a deadline for each goal).

Keep a positive attitude! If it seems hard, remind yourself that you are worth it. Most people spend more time planning a short vacation then they spend planning their lives. Dare to dream and dare to manifest everything you dream of!
Once you have set your goals, life will be so much easier. Once you have your road map, your life´s journey will be so much more pleasurable and fulfilling. Goals help you on your road to success, whatever success means to you.
